Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump

Just under two hours’ drive from Calgary is the well-preserved, culture-rich communal hunting site we know as Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Sure, its strong aboriginal history is what makes this UNESCO World Heritage Site so popular. But just standing at the Clifftop Viewpoint and taking in the awe-inspiring views of the prairies and the jagged mountains is rewarding enough.

Waterton Lakes National Park

No matter how many times you frequent this park, the awe-inspiring scenery never fails to stun. Whether you are here for the lakes, waterfalls and streams, for amazing hiking and biking trails or simply for the never-ending views, the park won’t disappoint. Oh, and the landmark Prince of Wales Hotel is a whole experience in itself.

Ghost Lake

Any list of fun road trips from Calgary can never be complete without Ghost Lake on it. This beautiful warm-weather spot is one every Albertan keeps coming back for. The place is teh ultimate boating and water sports destination with a nice little beach to sunbathe and picnic. The fact that it also has unreal views is a bonus.
Again, at under 1 hour, the destination is easy to travel to in an EQ. That said, there are charging stations nearby if you need.
Quarry Lake near Canmore

For a tiny park with a tiny lake, Quarry Lake near Canmore comes with some seriously majestic views, fun hikes, soothing dips and an opportunity to bring your furry fam. The field nearby doubles up as an off-leash area for our adorable four-legged friends. Definitely on our list of road trips from Calgary and not just once.
Not that you would need but there are a few EV charging stations in Canmore if you drive electric.
