The holidays are here and with deserved time off, many will be looking to wind down in front of the tube with their loved ones. Once the corn is popped, however, where do you start your December binge-athon? To Canada’s delight, Ryan Reynolds has shared his 12 must-watch Christmas movies – but (as you may have already suspected) this is no run-of-the-mill list.
Written by the actor and published by Kwantlen Polytechnic University, the Vancouver-born “storyteller, entrepreneur and life-long learner,” calls this particular roundup a ‘dirty dozen’ – and truly, he’s a man of his word.
“At their best, movies are communal experiences that take audiences across the world on a journey together,” he wrote.
“At no time is that shared experience more powerful than the holidays, when we all reflect on the year that passed, the adventure ahead, and our loved ones who fill our lives with joy. While we can’t all get together to exchange gifts, we can all watch, laugh, cry, and love movies together.”
Now before we jump in, these are not your Grandma’s holiday classics, but they all carry a central theme and spoiler: It’s not bells, bows or nog.
