If you’re looking for a cozy winter getaway, we’re here to share some of the most accessible backcountry stays in British Columbia. A whole host of provincial parks have rustic BC cabins and wilderness retreats available to book this season, so let’s dive in!
British Columbians can spend a weekend away from the city surrounded by the towering glaciers at Kokanee Glacier Park, or the deep-blue alpine lakes at Elfin Lakes, Garibaldi, or Tantalus Parks.
While some of the individual shelters are for emergency use only, there are plenty of options that are privately operated and available for booking.
Note that the only backcountry cabin that can be booked through BC Parks’ reservation service is Elfin Lakes Shelter in Garibaldi Park, which costs $15 a night to stay in.
For the most part, visitors are asked to bring their own bedding, food, pots, dishes, cutlery, towels, and personal items.
So there you have it, BC! Enjoy your next getaway!
