Hitting the islands this summer? Castaways Rum Shack on the Toronto Islands is a vibrant spot serving up tropical sips and tasty bites all season long.

Castaways Rum Shack is new to Ward’s Island this year, the owners told Curiocity in an email, and it was built from an old shack that was left behind on the property.

The new spot is attached to The Riviera eatery but is actually an entirely separate entity.

It features a sprawling, multicoloured patio with bar seating and tables surrounded by greenery.

The owners change up the food menu frequently, so there’s always something new to try.

However, there are many permanent menu items too, like pizza, patties, burgers, wings, and nachos, as well as vegetarian options.

As for drinks, you’ll feel like you’re on vacation while you sip on a boozy slushie, pina colada, rum punch, Aperol spritz, or margarita.

In the evenings, Castaways Rum Shack is especially picturesque with twinkling lights illuminating the patio.

This is the perfect spot to relax and refuel in between bike rides and lounging on the beach.

Castaways Rum Shack is open seasonally and will remain operational until October. That gives you plenty of time to check it out during your annual summer day trip to the islands.
