There’s a floating resort hidden high in Washington’s North Cascades & it’s magical

If you’re looking to have an unforgettable vacation here in Washington this summer, there aren’t many spots that top Ross Lake Resort. The resort is located in an unlikely location – the remote and beautiful Ross Lake high up in the North Cascades. The journey to get there and the spectacular resort itself will give you a summer experience to remember.

How did this unique resort come to be? The resort is actually the remains of a floating camp used by crews of workers logging the valley as it was flooded in 1952. Today, there are 15 cabins that you can choose to stay in during the resort’s open season which runs from June until October each year.

The trip to Ross Lake entails a 3-hour drive and a quick ferry. While staying at the resort is one of the main draws you can also choose to make a quick day trip or camp in the area.

Besides relaxing at the resort guests can enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking, and much more in the area.

Ross Lake is a once-in-a-lifetime stay, it’s one of the only places where you can rent houseboats in pristine wilderness. Due to its uniqueness and its small size, the resort books up quickly. If you’d like to stay at the resort you’ll need to sign up for the waitlist. Cabins range from $255-$460 per night and can fit between 1-9 people depending on the cabin.

Keep in mind you could be waiting several seasons to snag a cabin or you might get lucky with a last-minute cancellation. Regardless, this is a resort well worth the wait.
