An iconic hotel in Banff is getting ready to welcome guests back in a big way.

The Rimrock Hotel in Banff will reopen in Summer 2026 following a major renovation that is designed to transform the property and enhance guest experiences.

Known for its breathtaking Rocky Mountain views overlooking the Bow Valley and its location on the side of Sulphur Mountain, this hotel has been a fan favourite for decades.

A new chapter for Rimrock Hotel

As part of the transformation, the Rimrock will become the first hotel in North America to join Accor’s Emblems Collection.

This luxury brand focuses on carefully selected hotels that stand out for their heritage, character, and charm.

Instead of creating identical properties around the world, the Emblems collection focuses on one-of-a-kind destinations.

What guests can expect

The renovation will bring a fresh approach and offer a more immersive mountain experience for guests.

You can expect a range of new amenities, such as a mountain-facing infinity pool, as well as outdoor sauna experiences to allow guests to unwind while breathing in the fresh mountain air.

Beyond the wellness amenities, the redesign will introduce refreshed interiors that emphasize natural textures, open spaces, and mountain views.

Rimrock’s History and Legacy

When the hotel first opened its doors in 1884 as a tiny six-room lodge, it attracted early visitors who wanted to hike Sulphur Mountain.

Over time, alongside the town of Banff itself, Rimrock has expanded to accommodate travellers from all across the world. Today, the hotel contains 333 rooms, which are celebrated for their luxury and character.

Dining Recognition

In addition to the hotel’s long-lasting legacy, Rimrock has also been recognized internationally for its culinary offerings.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Eden, was named one of the top 1,000 restaurants worldwide in 2024 by La Liste, a prestigious global ranking that evaluates based on reviews and expert opinions.

What happens next

While the hotel undergoes renovations, Rimrock Banff encourages guests to follow along with the updates. From behind-the-scenes moments to design inspiration, these will all be shared with the public in the months leading up to the grand reopening in July 2026.

If you’re looking to visit Banff this summer, there is no better time to plan a visit and experience the stunning views, fine dining, and refreshed guest spaces that the Rimrock hotel has to offer.
