Known for its unparalleled view and incredibly rich history, The Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff is a favourite amongst tourists and locals alike – but it’s been a while since its last big renovation.

Though it’s already considered one of the most beautiful places to vacation in the area, the hotel has recently been placed under new management and will be getting a full facelift from room to foyer.

Located on Sulpher Mountain, The Rimrock has 330 guestrooms, 24 luxury suites 18,000 square feet of event space, an impressive spa, an indoor pool and four eateries – one of which (The Eden) has been named among North America’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurants.

In addition to this, it’s also got a seasonal skating rink, fitness centre – and now, some exciting news!

“Accor, a world-leading hospitality group comprising 5,400 properties and 10,000 food and beverage venues throughout 110 countries, has signed with Oxford to operate The Rimrock, effective immediately,” Oxford Properties stated.

“The property will undergo a comprehensive top-to-bottom renovation to transform the hotel, as part of a significant investment by Oxford and its capital partner.”

The plan? To modernize the hotel, improve its “environmental sustainability” and amplify its “distinctive location in the famed Canadian Rockies.”

Luckily, for those visiting the National Park, the hotel will remain open during this period and continue to operate as usual, despite its changes – which do not have a completion date as of yet.

Interested in staying there in the meantime? Reservations can be made on their website – but be sure to ask for a mountain view room! There really is nothing better than waking up to a view like at The Rimrock.

It’s truly spectacular.
