This stunning waterfall in Alberta is a must-visit hiking destination

This Alberta hike has the best reward: a gorgeous waterfall.

Ribbon Falls is located in Kananaskis, Alberta, and it’s home to one of the best hiking trails in the province. With gorgeous views and a stunning waterfall, valleys dipping for a beautiful view and sight, it’s just one of the most rewarding hikes you can go on in Alberta.

As for the waterfall itself, you’ll have to travel a vast amount to finally see this beauty, but, boy, is it worth it.

Things to know before visiting

It’s an 8.8-kilometre hike to Ribbon Falls, with an additional two kilometres if you’re looking to make your way to Ribbon Lake. It’s easily one of the best waterfall hikes in Alberta, offering spectacular views both at the waterfall and on the way there. You can expect this hike to take a couple of hours, with a moderate difficulty warning attached to it.

There are campgrounds for your pleasure as well!

Ribbon Falls Backcountry Campground is located within Spray Valley Provincial Park. Here, the journey is just as beautiful as the destination. In addition to the hike itself, there are tent pads, pit and vault toilets, as well as secure food storage facilities located here. It’s important to note, however, that it is illegal to remove, deface, injure or destroy trees or even collect deadwood.

Wanting to book? The rate is $12 per person, per night, and the camping season lasts from June 15 to Nov. 19.

If you’re not sure how to get to this area, you can get to it through the Ribbon Creek Day Use Area in Evan-Thomas Provincial Recreation Area.

Looking to get out and get a taste of nature this spring? This is the perfect way to do it.

Put on your hiking boots, folks! You won’t regret it.
