Report- Over 40% of Canadians ready to look for new jobs in 2022

Here’s a fun little bit of employment news! A recent Ipsos survey has found that almost half of working Canadians are likely to look for a new job in 2022. The survey, conducted on behalf of Randstad Canada (an HR company), looked even closer at what’s being called ‘The Great Resignation’.

So, what’s driving the employee exodus? It’s simple- ever-increasing vacancies and new policies putting flexibility at the forefront. And while 43% of those surveyed said they’d be likely to look for a new job, the majority of those people (68%) were younger, between the ages of 18 and 34. Interestingly, the survey found no indicators that ‘blue’ or ‘white’ collar workers were more likely than the other to seek new employment.

On the flipside, almost 40% of employers are very confident that their employees will want to work for them in the future. Not going to lie though, we couldn’t help but laugh at why some of them thought that. Because while less than 20% cited things like ‘flexible working models, salary and benefits, and hybrid working models’, a whopping 48% simply said “we are a great place to work”. Yeah, sorry, but that just doesn’t cut the cheese these days.

At least, not for us! We know our worth here at Curiocity, even if it means a couple of awkward conversations with the brass here and there. Sorry, we don’t mean to toot our own horns too much. Toot toot!
