Summertime calls for pool days and sunbathing! Unfortunately, not a lot of us have the luxury of having a pool in our backyard and though the City of Toronto has public outdoor pools, they can get crowded. But did you know you can rent a city pool for a birthday party or social gathering? Keep on reading.

According to the City of Toronto, residents can book “ice time, pools, courts, fields or other recreation facilities” for special occasions. That means birthday parties, social events or just for fun.

How to book

If you’re interested, you must find a location on the facility listings or map and Call Client Services to see if it is available for your preferred date and time.

Then you must complete the one-time space use form and submit it to the Client Services team.

To complete the booking, depending on the type, age and residency of participants and if booking is in prime time, the fee may differ.

Per the city, fees range from free to $400 an hour.

Rules

Of course, have as much fun as you can! BUT, there are some rules to note. Unless you have a permit, serving alcohol in City parks and facilities will cancel your booking and possibly any future bookings.

Also, don’t get rowdy. “Violence at events will not be tolerated and will result in the immediate cancellation of the booking,” states the city.

For more information, you can read up on etiquette here.

As we near summer, you’ll definitely want to book your pool day soon! The city is opening its pools for the season next month and it’s always best to get ahead of the game.

See ya’ll poolside!
