The Prairies are home to a ton of otherworldly destinations that’ll blow you away. From the Rockies to the Badlands, there’s plenty to see, but the Red Rock Coulee Natural Area in Alberta is among the most interesting.
Located south of Medicine Hat, this Mars-like spot is truly one of a kind.
Known for its giant red sandstone concretions, the natural area is considered one of the best in the province for those who are fascinated by spheroid rock formations.
Measuring up to 2.5 metres across, Alberta’s Red Rocks are said to have eroded out of the softer bedrock and are some of the largest on the planet.
Want to check it out?
Keep your eyes peeled for four-legged critters big and small!
From white-tailed jackrabbits, mule deer, pronghorn, western rattlesnakes, bull snakes, short-horned lizards, and scorpions—which are extremely rare in Wild Rose Country—you could see ’em all!
This area really is breathtaking, so pack some snacks, and toss on your most comfortable shoes.
It’s going to be wicked!
