Chances are high that over the past couple of years you’ve thought a bit more about cycling, if not picked up the hobby yourself. So, you might want to check out the RBC Gran Fondo, which has easily become one of Canada’s most iconic bikes races. And for good reason, we might add.

Part race, and part cycling ‘celebration’, the RBC Gran Fondo offers cyclists the chance to bike all the way from Vancouver to Whistler. And while that’s technically possible regularly, this is the only day of the year where the Sea to Sky Highway is (mostly) shut down. Yeah, you get one of the most incredible drives in the country all to yourself. And your new cycling buddies.

This year, the event is taking place at the very end of summer, on September 10th. There are multiple levels of the event, ranging from 55km all the way up to 152km. But, the most popular by far is the classic Gran Fondo route, which starts in Stanley Park and ends in Whistler Village.

Like a legitimate marathon, the event isn’t something to take lightly. But, if you’re feeling good about your cycling game, then it’s easily one of the country’s bucket list events.

Us? Well, we might have a few years of training to go.
