Grab your hiking buddy! Rattlesnake Point is just one hour outside of Toronto, and if you’re looking to shake up a day off, it’s a great place to spend the day hiking. The all-seasons conservation area does have a small gate fee, but it’s a pretty fair trade-off for sweeping views and breathtaking scenery!
The park is located in Milton, Ontario, almost exactly one hour by car if you’re driving in from Toronto.
To visit, you’ll need to pay a gate fee, which is cheaper if you pay ahead online. Online fees are $10.50 for adults, $8.25 for seniors, $7.25 for children and free for those under the age of five.
“From bold-faced cliffs to beautiful views of the escarpment, Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area offers a fun adventure for any outdoor enthusiast,” shares Ontario Conservation Areas.
Once you’re in the park, you’ll have four trails to choose from (or, explore all of) which include:
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, the Nassagaweya Trail can be done as a 14.4 km long round-trip, which takes around four to five hours to finish. Along the way, there are a handful of gorgeous lookout spots that showcase the escarpment in all its glory.
“Even the plant and animal species at Rattlesnake Point are impressive, with turkey vultures soaring through the air and thousand-year-old cedars growing from the rock,” Conservation Halton describes.
These views are perfect for photos no matter what time of year it is.
Be sure to stick around Crawford Lake and walk along the boardwalk, too. Just follow the signage.
A little escape from the city, and a great way to get your steps in on a winter day. A win-win!
