There’s a huge cave inside this Alberta mountain & you can explore it

Are you afraid of the dark? If the answer is no and you’re seeking adventure, look no further than Grotto Mountain.

While it’s beautiful on the outside, there’s a daring experience hidden deep within – one that you can actually enjoy all year round, but there’s a catch!

Rats Nest Cave in Alberta, which is named after the bushy-tailed wood rat, is Canada’s 4th longest cave, and a must-visit for those who aren’t claustrophobic.

Here, you can duck and crawl past prehistoric bones, see helictites, flowstone, and ‘soda straws’ – thin delicate hollow tubes that dangle from the ceiling.

You’ll just need to explore it with a guide!

With 25 years of know-how and all the equipment you’ll need for your journey – a Canmore Cave Tour is how you’ll gain access to the underbelly of the Grotto.

Thanks to their hard work and several visits through these smaller spaces, they’ve been able to together two tours: a four-hour expedition called the Explorer, and a 6-hour visit called the Adventure Tour.

From learning a thing or two about the cave itself to rappelling 6 stories down what they call ‘The Laundry Chute’ there is really no better way to check it out.

Want to challenge yourself? These excursions are accessible almost every day of the week.

To book visit their website now and good luck!
