We’ll be honest- it’s slim pickings right now for stunning properties not just in Vancouver, but all across BC. But, we’ve come across a stunning ‘rainforest home’ on Vancouver Island that is right up our fantasy home alley. And if you’re thinking city life is overrated, you might just agree with us.

Located in a secluded setting outside of Sooke, this multi-space property offers a wonderful combination of custom design and functionality. Only built in 2020 and sitting on just over 1 acre, the listing features a main home, a studio space with some fun additions, and even a seasonal pond to kick back beside.

Here’s what a $20 million waterfront home in West Vancouver looks like

First, the main home. With a focus on natural light and open space, the home offers 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and high level finishes galore. Seriously, we doubt we’d even use the bedroom that much, it’d be too easy to pass out while reading a book beside the massive floor to ceiling windows in the main room.

Elsewhere on the property, you’ll also get a self-contained studio/cottage combination that is perfect for weekend visits. The main area is devoted to working, but the building also features a loft area for sleeping, a kitchen to make some meals, and a bathroom with a full shower to unwind in.

We have to say that we love the aesthetics here, too. Utilizing various wood panelling and finishes, the home is the perfect blend of simple, contemporary design without becoming too ‘sterile’. And, since we have no doubts that whoever buys this home will have a taste of the finer things in life, it’s also a great setting for a smaller art collection to liven things up.

That’s our opinion, at least. And while the $1,680,000 price point is out of our budget, we’d take this rainforest home on Vancouver Island over similarly priced properties in Vancouver any day of the week. To check out the listing for yourself, you can click this link.
