The symphony of fall colours at this Ontario Park is enhanced by surrounding rock cliffs and majestic waterfalls

Fall is in full swing at Quetico Provincial Park! This wilderness park is described as iconic as it’s home to towering rock cliffs, majestic waterfalls, virgin pine and spruce forests, picturesque rivers and this time of year – a symphony of fall colours.

The Ontario fall colour report shows that the park’s foliage is currently at its peak, meaning this is the perfect time of year to visit.

The park is a bit of a journey from Toronto, about 16 hours north of the city by car.

The area is quite remote, making it an outdoor lovers’ dream!

There is a day fee to visit Quetico Provincial Park starting at $12.25 per vehicle.

Exploring Quetico Provincial Park

Quetico features 460,000 ha of remote wilderness so there is plenty to explore.

If you want some of the best views the park has to offer, you’ll need to hit the water (via canoe).

Hundreds of lakes and rivers are linked by 550 maintained portages meaning the canoeing opportunities can range from one day to several weeks long.

One of the most popular routes is the Cirrus Lake-The Sue Falls Loop. The route features uninterrupted stretches of paddling, with only an occasional portage for leg-stretching, and those who choose to embark on it will be rewarded with views of the scenic Sue Falls.

Quetico is recognized as an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association, too.

The park has exceptionally dark night skies free of light pollution and according to Ontario Parks, the shorelines and beaches throughout the park are the best places to view the night sky on a clear night!

The fall colours are at full peak this time of year so whether you’re canoeing or hiking, be sure to snap some photos.

Enjoy Quetico Provincial Park in all its beauty, Ontario!
