Two Canadian destinations are among 52 global places to go in 2024

A new list is out and if you were looking for 2024 travel inspo, you’ve come to the right place. The New York Times has released its annual list of 52 Places To Go and two Canadian destinations were mentioned. For those eager to explore our beautiful country, both Quebec and Yukon made the list – here’s what to know.

The annual list by the U.S publication highlights a number of stunning destinations including Mustang, Nepal; Geneva, Switzerland; Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, and many more.

Not only are there global destinations but the list also includes cultural events and buildings such as The Path of Totality which is where you can watch the highly anticipated solar eclipse in April, and the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Mexico.

For you world travellers out there, this serves as the perfect guide to explore ends you may have never heard of. But if you’re hoping to do more local travel, within Canada, Quebec and the Yukon are great places to explore.

Quebec’s Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve placed 27th on the list. “Hike amid Canada’s largest concentration of erosion-sculpted monoliths, which rise like fossilized works of art; kayak on the misty sea; and explore secluded beaches framed by marshes and forests,” shared the NYT.

According to Parks Canada, “whales and seals frolic at large,” and there are thousands of islands and islets that visitors can admire.

There’s no surprise here that Quebec saw a mention. Just last year, the French-speaking province was voted one of the best places to go in 2024.

As for Whitehorse, Yukon, it placed 48th overall.

“Surrounded by mountains and boreal forests, Whitehorse offers a warm welcome from the wilds in flourishing small businesses, including Yukon Brewing, offering “beer worth freezin’ for,” Gather Cafe & Taphouse, which shares space with a glassblowing studio, and Woodcutter’s Blanket, serving craft cocktails and microbrews in a 1930s log cabin,” shared the NYT.

The interactive list can be viewed here.

If you have any travel plans this year, you know where to go!
