This private island for sale in BC costs less than the average Vancouver condo

We’re abandoning all of our normal considerations this week, because we’ve found a private island for sale in BC that’s cheaper than an average condo in Vancouver. We hope you’re feeling rugged though, because it would be no small feat to actually live on it.

Circle Island, as it’s called, occupies an incredible location in the Strait of Georgia, marking pretty much a halfway point between the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. More specifically, it’s nestled between Lasqueti Island to the south and Texada Island to the north, making access to a least a little bit of civilization just a short boat ride away.

Because friend, you sure as heck ain’t getting any on the island itself. Pretty much just a (very beautiful) rock, Circle Island has more or less remained untouched for thousands of years. We’re not talking a house, an outhouse… heck, there’s not even a dock for it yet. Although, you can absolutely build one without the need for a permit.

What the island does offer, of course, is immediate access to some of the most gorgeous terrain in the world, and a building site right at the very ‘peak’ of it. So yes, you could theoretically go full Dick Proenneke out here and build your own off-the-grid cabin to live it. We should also note that you could probably power it using wind and solar sources, but a backup generator wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Now, to the original claim. We weren’t joking when we said this private island for sale in BC is cheaper than a Vancouver condo, and we’ve got the receipts to prove it. According to Zolo, the current condo price in the city (combining studios up to 3 bedrooms) is a cool $880,000. Meanwhile, this island costs a mere $750,000.

Yeah, we’re honestly ready to take the leap of faith and swap city living for truly roughing it on our own island. We’ve seen Cast Away, we think we can handle it.
