It’s been about a year since production wrapped in Alberta, but finally, Prey has hit the streaming world, including Canada. What’s more, it’s been met with some serious fanfare, with both audiences and critics agreeing that it’s one of the best sci-fi movies to come out in the past few years.

We won’t beat around the streaming bush here. The movie is now available to watch on Disney+ in Canada, thanks to a partnership with the American streaming company Hulu. Like most of the Star Original slate, the movie is not intended for young audiences (and to that effect, carries an ‘R’ rating).

Ok, now why is Prey doing so well? As a sequel (technically a prequel) to the original Predator, it fulfills a long-awaited niche that one thought would have been covered by now- if predators have been hunting people for a while, why haven’t we seen other examples?
