This small Washington town has a preserved Victorian seaport & is the perfect fall getaway

Nestled at the northeastern tip of the stunning Olympic Peninsula, Port Townsend, Washington, is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. With its rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant arts scene, there are countless reasons why this charming town should be at the top of your fall travel list.

Port Townsend boasts a unique and well-preserved Victorian seaport. You can stroll along Water Street, lined with 19th-century buildings, where you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Or you can head to nearby Fort Worden for a glimpse at our state’s military legacy.

The historic buildings aren’t the only thing to see as the town is surrounded by the Salish Sea and the Olympic Mountains. So if you like the outdoors you’ll find plenty to do between exploring the areas sandy beaches and lush forests, or by heading over to nearby Olympic National Park.

If you’d rather stay in town you can check out the area’s art scene by visiting one of the several galleries and theatres. Or try local eats that range from seafood to classic American comfort food.

What’s more, Port Townsend is just over a two hour drive from Seattle. You can choose between driving around the south Sound or take the ferry. No matter what you choose, it’s a great place to visit to get out of the hustle and bustle of Seattle and step back into our state’s history.
