Now that spring has officially arrived, now is the perfect time to start planning some scenic road trips around BC. The coastline alone boasts countless islands, inlets, beaches, and forests to explore, and Port Renfrew has a bit of everything.
Once a small fishing village, Port Renfrew is surrounded by ancient rainforest on the Pacific Rim of Vancouver Island, and has become known as the “tall tree capital of Canada,” according to its website.
Home to some of Canada’s tallest and largest Douglas Firs, Cedars, and Spruces, Port Renfrew is a must-visit for old-growth enthusiasts, who have plenty to explore at the southern entrance to the renowned Pacific Rim National Park.
In addition to breathtaking ancient forests, visitors of the unincorporated community can check out the famed “West Coast Trail,” Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, and 22 km of golden, sandy beaches at Long Beach.
