Ready to visit the heart of Vancouver Island? Port Alberni is a scenic enclave situated 193 km from Victoria, and boasts many exciting indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy year-round. From beloved farmer’s markets and annual festivals to historic sites, there’s plenty to check out here.

During the warmer months, Port Alberni is a popular spot for sport-fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, windsurfing, boating, hiking, and mountain biking. The area’s breathtaking mountain scenery and freshwater lakes offer visitors and residents alike the chance to immerse themselves in nature.

Harbour Quay

In the fall, Harbour Quay transforms into a charming array of waterfront shops, galleries, and eateries, all surrounded by vibrant fall foliage.

This includes the famed Swept Away Inn, a floating bed & breakfast aboard a restored tugboat, which reopens for the season in April of 2024.

Harbour Quay is also the site of the year-round Spirit Square Farmers’ Market, which brings Port Alberni farmers, local musicians, and members of the community together every Saturday from 9 am to noon.

In June of 2022, the famed clock tower at Harbour Quay was transformed into the Wolf Tower in honour of the Tseshaht First Nation and the re-awakening of ƛuukʷatquuʔis (Wolf Ritual Beach). This tower offers visitors panoramic views of the Alberni Inlet.
