A Canada-wide street hockey tournament kicks off in Calgary next week & anyone can participate

Feeling competitive? This month, wear your game face and PLAY ON in Calgary’s Marda Loop!

Back for 2022, Canada’s National Street Hockey Tournament kicks off right here in cowtown before heading to 8 other communities across the country.

From coast to coast, this inclusive event is meant to reimagine the use of heavily-trafficked streets in hopes of promoting health, sports participation of all ages and physical activity.

“Marda Loop is a great hockey community with hockey-related businesses in the community and arenas nearby, we’re excited to be hosting,” said Bob van Wegen, Executive Director of the Marda Loop BIA.

If you’d like to participate in an intense showdown of stick handling and dexterity, you can register at the website below – otherwise, why not catch the action as a fan?
All ages are welcome to hit the pavement as a player, team captain or referee and entrance fees start at $49 for a single person.

For those who are really in it to win it, Play On! finalists could qualify for the first-ever National Championships which will be held in the fall of 2023. Good luck!
