CALABRIA, ITALY

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur? Last June, the region of Calabria in Italy announced a new relocation program in hopes of populating the area with boss babes and businessmen. Whether your dream is to own a cafe, an app, a clothing line, or anything in between – the government confirmed that they would pay you up to $41,384.96 CAD to move and start your own business in one of their communities.

SANTIAGO, CHILE

Similarily to Calabria’s relocation incentive, the city of Santiago is well known by entrepreneurs for its Start-Up Chile program in which those looking to start a business could be eligible for $62,532.50 CAD to do so in their capital. In addition to this, those who apply and are successful – will also receive a one-year work visa and a list of contacts curated by the government.

ALBINEN, SWITZERLAND 

Under 45 years old with 10 years to kill? Spend them in Switzerland. As a municipality with a declining population, the government declared that new residents would receive a $6,774.51 CAD grant, plus $13,549.58 CAD for any children they may have AS LONG as they agree to purchase a home, apply for and maintain their citizenship for 10 years.

CANDELA, ITALY 

With a population of 2,700 people, Candela, Italy hopes to entice a younger crowd. To do this – their mayor is offering new residents anywhere between $1,107.14 CAD to $2,768.11 CAD to move there. The catch? You must live there full time, have a job that makes at least $10,380.99 CAD a year – and you have to rent a house. No, that’s not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things  – but it’s hot, beautiful, and has great food.
