Pickle Lake is located 530 KM north of Thunder Bay and is the very last stop along Highway 599.
While Pickle Lake is accessible by road and can be visited year-round, the public beach is one of the most popular attractions once it starts to warm up.
According to Pickle Lake’s website, just follow Koval Street North, past the ball diamond, to the town beach, where you can watch the sunset over picturesque Pickle Lake.
There’s newly-installed playground equipment available for the kids, easy access to the water for swimming, gazebos and picnic tables for eating, as well as a boat launch nearby!
Just south of Pickle Lake is one of the biggest attractions to the area – Lake St. Joseph which is famous for its walleye fishing.
Lake St. Joseph has a 150,000-acre fishery with controlled access brought about by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the tourist camps on Lake St. Joe. The lake also has great northern pike fishing!
Pickle Lake continues to be an nature-filled dream, with canoe and kayak outfitters that outfit from Pickle Lake to the saltwater coast of Hudson and James Bay – a total of 500,000 square km with thousands of kilometres of remote rivers and lakes to explore.
The Pickle Lake Hotel is the perfect place to stay, eat, and take in some views. Located right on the water, The Pickle Lake Hotel is a popular destination for out-of-town guests with hotel rooms and apartments available to book for long-term or short-term stays.
The hotel’s restaurant and patio are also highly frequented spots for locals, with a yummy food menu serving up everything from breakfast to burgers.
