Float your troubles away: This BC spot has one of Canada’s laziest rivers

If you love casual beach days and floating down lazy rivers – we’ve got a fantastic day trip option to toss your way. The Penticton River Channel happens to be one of Canada’s laziest rivers – with 7 km of float-worthy water to enjoy. All that’s left to do is pack some drinks and floaties and hit the road!

The 7 km lake-to-lake channel float is definitely a bucket list activity that the whole family can enjoy. Those interested in renting float gear can start at Coyote Cruises (215 Riverside Drive) and slowly drift from Okanagan Lake all the way down to Skaha Lake.

Though if you’d prefer to stop mid-way, there’s a stopping point at Green Mountain Road, according to Visit Penticton.

All in all, it’ll take around three or four hours to float down the channel, so get ready for some quality relaxing time on the water!

As for the types of floaties you can rent – Coyote Cruises offers single and double tubes (with drink cup holders) for $19 to $38, or 4, 8, and 12-person “party islands” – which start at $100 for four people. Each rental comes with shuttle transport back to the starting point of the channel, from either the endpoint or mid-point of the channel.

And if you opt to bring your own floaties, shuttle service is available for $9.52 per person.

So there you have it, BC! If you’re hoping to float down a lazy river before summer’s end, you know where to look.
