This BC park is home to the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies & a majestic waterfall

For the avid explorer, few things can top the experience of the Canadian Rockies. Stretching 1,000 miles southeast from northern BC to western Alberta, the breathtaking mountain range can be visited in Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Yoho national parks, among several provincial parks – including the famed Mount Robson Park in BC, where the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies lies at
3,954 metres above sea level.

As well, the BC park is home to enchanting old-growth forests, towering waterfalls, and beautiful meadows that make the dramatic descents of the mountains all the more spectacular to behold. There are nearly 300 campsites for visitors to take advantage of, including 182 vehicle-accessible sites.

Although the upper Berg Lake Trail and campgrounds are still closed for repairs, reservations can be made for the Robson Meadows, Robson River, and Lucerne campgrounds. And the even better news? The 7 km hiking trail to Kinney Lake Campground is now open as of late June, with 18 tent pads available for campers. And what’s more, hikers can experience each of the four seasons during their visit due to drastic elevation changes – sometimes in a single day!

Visitors can also book tours of the scenic Berg Lake via Heli-Hike, taking in the sights of the Valley of a Thousand Falls, Emperor Falls, and the turquoise waters of Berg and Kinney Lakes.

During your visit, you’ll likely spot mules and whitetail deers as they roam through the forest, as well as mountain goats, and even grizzly bears – though optimally from a safe distance, of course.

So there you have it, BC! Your next mountain adventure awaits. Be sure to stay up to date on trail conditions and safety info prior to your visit.
