Like so many of you, we shudder at the thought of change, but sometimes it’s for the best! This year, despite occupying the same space since 2013, Parks Canada will relocate its popular Lake Louise Park and Ride shuttle lot – but it could be temporary.

As part of a two-year pilot project, PC has decided to have its shuttles (which take people to Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and the village of Lake Louise) operate out of the parking lot at the end of Whitehorn Road in the Lake Louise Ski area.

This, of course, is not far from its old location in the overflow parking lot next to the Trans-Canada Highway – but will make a significant difference to visitors.

Confirmed to us by Parks Canada, this new location will add about 200 parking spots, accommodating 1,000 people as opposed to only 800 – which we think is great. After all, Lake Louise’s parking lot is often empty in the spring and summer months when the shuttles are in service (mid-May and mid-October).

In conclusion, hopefully, this will give people a little more room to breathe, park and stretch their legs this spring. If there’s anything we learned over the last two years, it’s that you can never go wrong with a little extra space!
