If you love getting creative with Halloween costumes every year, get ready to roll up your sleeves. East Vancouver’s annual Parade of Lost Souls returns this year, and it’s bringing a spooky blend of art, music, and dance with it.

“Parade of Lost Souls is for the people and by the people,” says Kat Single-Dain, co-founder and artistic executive director of The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret Society. “Every year, our community collaborates to create the ultimate Halloween experience with a wide range of workshops, dances, a huge variety of music, and the most fantastic costumes you can imagine.”

Three themed workshops

This year, the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret Society is organizing several distinct workshops prior to the main parade: A “Thriller Flash Mob,” a mystical “Witches Dance Workshop,” and “Do the Time Warp.”

Note that the event is open to all ages and individuals looking to come together to celebrate the season with performance, music, and art. And if you’re 19+ and want to keep the fun times going, you can be ‘resurrected’ at the official after-party located at The Wise Hall, starting at 10 pm.

Participants can attend one of the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret’s “Happy Hour Drop-in Fridays” to create their costumes or purchase some, as well as meet potential collaborators, contribute to set decor, and meet the parade crew that makes it all possible.

The main parade starts at the Britannia Library branch at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th, following the Parade of Little Souls at 6:30 p.m.

So there you have it, Halloween lovers! Time to get creative!
