Gosling played the iconic role of Ken in “Barbie,” even earning himself an Oscar nomination for Best supporting actor.

Although he didn’t take home the Oscar, he did win the hearts of viewers as he took to the stage (and to the audience) to perform the movie’s original hit, “I’m Just Ken.”

Not only did Gosling have the audience laughing and singing along, he also featured some of his “Barbie” costars in the performance including fellow Canadian Simu Liu, who plays another Ken in the film.

Gosling was among a handful of other Canadians that were nominated at the 2024 Oscars, including:

  • Ben Proudfoot for Best documentary short film: The Last Repair Shop
  • Celine Song for Best original screenplay: Past Lives
  • Robbie Robertson for Best original score: Killers of the Flower Moon
  • Nisha Pahuja for Best documentary feature film: To Kill a Tiger
  • Vincent René-Lortie for Best live action short: Invincible
  • Troy Quane for Best animated feature film: Nimona
  • Jeff Sutherland and Stéphane Ceretti for Best visual effects: Mission Impossible and Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Ben Proudfoot was the only Canuck to take home hardware on Sunday, winning Best documentary short film for “The Last Repair Shop.”

The Nova Scotian filmmaker co-directed the winning film as he represented Canada’s east coast.

You’re all winners to us! Now excuse me while I go watch that “I’m Just Ken,” performance again.
