Another stat holiday is nearly here – but before we soak up the sun, get some fresh air and party hardy – we’ve got some housekeeping to do. First and foremost? You’ve got to make some plans – which means you’ll need to know what’s open and what’s closed in Calgary on Labour Day.

Not sure where to go and what to do? We’ve got you! Here’s what you need to know ahead of this Monday.

OPEN

MOVIE THEATRES

Hoping to catch a flick this Monday? Landmark CinemasCineplex and Calgary’s cheap theatre, Canyon Meadows, will all be open all weekend long.

MALLS

Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, Southcentre Mall, CrossIron MillsCF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will all be open on September 5th.

Llions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – The Calgary Zoo will also be open this Monday and will be the perfect time to visit their new baby gorilla!

CALGARY-OWNED GOLF COURSES

Whether you were hoping to check out Maple Ridge or Lakeview, all Calgary-owned Calgary golf courses will also be open this Canada Day – Check out the link here to make a tee time now!

GROCERY & LIQUOR STORES

Having a BBQ? Need milk or need to do a last-minute beer run? You’re in luck. Though (again) we’d recommend checking your local shops hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open this Friday.

THE CALGARY TOWER

Views, views and more views. This Canada Day, check out the Calgary Tower, grab a bite to eat at Sky 360 and enjoy!

CALAWAY PARK

This Monday adrenaline junkies and families looking to enjoy the sunshine can do so at Calaway Park between 10 am to 7 pm. Hold on tight and enjoy!

MUSEUMS

This Labour Day Calgarians will be able to visit several in-city museums like The Hangar Flight Museum and the Military Museum. Happy learning!

Go back in time this Labour Day at Heritage Park! Open between 10 am and 5 pm, Calgarians can check out old-timey buildings, shops and carnival rides.

CITY-OWNED RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND LEISURE CENTRES

Sorry, folks – but this Labour Day, all city-owned pools, indoor and outdoor, as well as fitness and rec centres will be closed in lieu of the Stat holiday. Don’t worry though, it won’t be long until they reopen.

POST OFFICES

Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Labour Day (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.

While grocery and convenience stores will be open this Friday, Costco will be unshoppabe this Monday Looks like you’ll have to get your massive hot do fix before September 5th! 

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

From the passport office to the DMV, all government offices will be closed on Labour Day.
