It’s nearly here! The Long weekend is just around the corner but how will you spend it? Before you make any big plans, it’s important to know what’s open and closed on Family Day in Edmonton and we’re here to help.
Whether you’re an adventure-seeker or just need to do some errands, here’s what to know ahead of February 19th, 2024.
Open

Museums
Museums are a great way to get out and about this Family Day and we’ve got great news!
Many Alberta-run spots will not only be open but totally FREE to check out this year.
Movie Theatres
Hoping to catch a flick this Family Day? Landmark Cinemas and Cineplex theatres will all be open all weekend long.
Malls
Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, West Edmonton Mall, Kingsway, Southgate Centre and Edmonton City Centre malls will be open.
Edmonton Valley Zoo
Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – the Edmonton Valley Zoo will also be open this Family Day Monday and makes a great family outing, especially for those with kids!

Grocery and Liquor Stores
Need milk or beer? You’re in luck. Though (again) we’d recommend checking your local stop hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open on holiday Monday.
Telus World of Science
Looking for something fun to do with your favourite people? Why not spend the day at Telus World of Science on Monday afternoon?
Where: 11211 142 St NW, Edmonton
City-owned Recreational Facilities and Leisure Centres
Much like Edmonton’s malls, we’d recommend checking the hours of your local leisure centre, but several facilities will be open on Monday the 19th.
Edmonton Transit
While transit will be operational on Monday, February 19th, Trains and buses will run on their Sunday schedule.
Landfill
Good news, errand-doers, the Landfill will also be open this year on Family Day. Check out their hours here.

Parking
As per their website, no payment is required for on-street parking in Edmonton on Monday, February 19th, due to the stat holiday.
Costco
While grocery and convenience stores will be open this Friday, Costco will be unshoppable this Family Day Monday – Looks like you’ll have to get your massive hot dog fix before February 19th.
