Ontario’s summer forecast just dropped & here’s what to expect

We’re nearly a month into spring, which only means one thing — cottage season is around the corner. The Farmers’ Almanac has released its summer weather predictions for Ontario and every other province, with details about what to expect throughout the season.

For Ontario, the Farmers’ Almanac says that “warm and wet” weather will dominate throughout the summer, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to us locals.

“In early July, Canada Day could be marred by severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and tornadoes for western Ontario,” the Almanac says.

Most provinces will be dealing with sizzling temperatures this summer, especially in August when “blistering hot” weather is expected.

However, the worst of the hot weather will likely be behind us come mid-August, when “wet weather will predominate Ontario and the Great Lakes,” the forecast says.

And in September, which still feels like summer in many parts of Ontario, “unseasonably cool air” will bring relief from the heat.

“Toward the end of September, much cooler weather will begin to make its presence felt,” the forecast says.

Overall, a pretty typical summer is on tap for Ontario. However, as we approach the start of the season, we can expect more clues about what kind of weather to expect. Stay tuned!
