Butter tart enthusiasts, you won’t want to miss this. Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival is returning in June and it’s going to be a massive celebration of this deliciously gooey Canadian dessert.

The festival is the largest of its kind in Canada and will take place on the shores of Georgian Bay in the town of Midland.

You’ll want to bring your appetite because there will be infinite butter tart varieties to try, including raisin, pecan, walnut, Skor, maple, bacon, coconut, chocolate covered, PB&J, s’mores, gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, cheesecake, and pumpkin.

The festival will host 200 vendors and food trucks, so you’ll be able to balance all of the sweetness with some savoury bites. Plus, the festival grounds will be filled with buskers and entertainers.

Most importantly, though, are the contests. The festival will crown the best butter tart baker in every category, including the best traditional tart, wild style categories, and best in show.

The panel of judges will consist of butter tart-loving celebrities, chefs, food and travel bloggers, and local dignitaries. If you’re a home baker, this could be your chance to get some recognition!
