Ontario Parks is limiting how long you can camp for & here’s what to know

If you plan to go camping this summer, Ontario Parks has announced it will be reducing its maximum length of stay for the camping season at its parks. Here’s what you need to know.

According to Ontario Parks, to ensure that more people can enjoy the campgrounds, Ontario Parks will reduce the maximum length of stay at select parks between July 1 and the Saturday of the Labour Day long weekend.

“We’ve heard from countless visitors how frustrating it can be to miss out on a summer camping reservation. With reservations in high demand, it can be difficult to get a campsite at some of our park campgrounds,” reads the post.

“This change will not impact backcountry camping or roofed accommodations.”

At select parks, the maximum length of stay will now be seven or 14 nights during the camping season compared to the previous 23 nights.

However, outside of these dates, the maximum stay will still be 23 nights. For those looking to camp longer, Ontario Parks suggests that you either: a) visit a park with a maximum stay of 23 nights, b) road trip from park to park, or c) book an off-season stay when the maximum goes back to 23 nights.

Here are the parks affected by the change during July 1 and the Saturday of Labour Day long weekend:
