This park in Ontario has one of the most ‘magical’ beaches in Canada

Beach days are calling! If you’re looking for the perfect destination to lay out in the sand this summer, Northwest Beach at Point Pelee National Park is where it’s at.

According to Parks Canada, Northwest Beach is one of the most magical beaches to explore in all of Canada.

“Turquoise waters and golden sands await at Canada’s most southern point,” says Parks Canada.

Point Pelee National Park sits on a peninsula, and both the east and west sides are framed by 20 km of sandy beach.

You can hike to the tip or take a free shuttle.

This sandy shoreline is said to be the longest continuous natural beach in Essex County.

Both West Beach and Northwest Beach have picnic facilities, changeroom areas, and washrooms for you to use during your visit.

There are also spectacular songbird and monarch butterfly migrations at this park that you’ll learn more about along the way.

From late August to mid-October, waves of the distinctive butterflies “begin one of nature’s greatest journeys” through Ontario and across Lake Erie, eventually ending up in Mexico, according to Parks Canada.

Point Pelee is a temporary home for the Monarchs around this time because it’s one of the shortest points for them to cross The Great Lakes.

The park keeps track of their movements and provides updates about where and when to see them.

There are many magical beaches to explore around Canada and Northwest Beach at Point Pelee National Park is just one of them!
