You know what— we were going to say that fall is the best time to visit Niagara Falls. But we realized that’s not entirely true. Niagara Falls is epic all year round— whether it’s covered in spring blooms, dipped in the summer sunshine, bursting with fall colours or capped with pristine snow.
That said, visiting the famous falls in autumn is an experience you want to live time and time again. And for anyone who needs that little extra nudge, here are 5 reasons why Niagara Falls needs to be your next fall staycation destination—
See through every adventurous angle
When it comes to thrill-inducing activities, Niagara has a lot to offer. There’s go-karting down slopes, ziplining to the Falls, Journey-ing Behind the Falls, riding the Niagara River rapids in Whirlpool Jet Boats, indoor skydiving and much more. Plus, you can not only get adrenaline pumping adventures in, but you can see the Falls from every angle. Whether it’s from the Niagara Helicopters, the Skylon Tower or from the Niagara Skywheel, this is one fall scene you won’t want to skip.
Hikes, bikes, and F-all things nice
As far as we go, summer is a season to chill at the beach, dip in the pool and sip on Sangrias. Fall is the season to hike, bike and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. And you can do it all in Niagara Falls. Hike and boulder through the stunning fall foliage on the many trails of Niagara Glen Nature Reserve. Or explore the 300 km of biking trails including the exceptionally scenic Niagara River Recreational Trail.
Of course, there has to be wine. You are, after all, hitting wine country with wineries galore. But the perks of a fall visit are more than just lip-smacking wine and craft brews. Courtesy of the harvest season, restaurant menus boast of fan-fave fall flavours and serve up all things fresh. You can also grab fresh produce from the farmers’ markets here. Or pick your own fruit.
Colourful hues & incredible views
Saying that Niagara Falls offers incredible views would be an understatement of the century. The place does even more. Now, imagine this beauty in its colourfully glam autumn attire. With shades of yellow, orange and red popping up around every corner, this is THE place to catch the fall colours. And there are plenty of parks and gardens here to showcase fall at its vibrant best. The Annual Chrysanthemum Show at the Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse is one we strongly recommend.
The Ontario Staycation Tax Credit
At the beginning of 2021, the government of Ontario introduced its Ontario Staycation Tax Credit. So, on your stay anywhere in Ontario, you will get a 20% tax credit. Tempting! This tax credit is to incentivize Ontarians like us to explore the many wonders our province has to offer, including Niagara Falls. Don’t wait, the incentive is only available until the end of 2022.
So, if you’ve been dreaming of escaping the city and enjoying a fall getaway that’s equal parts fun, adventure and relaxing, Niagara Falls is the destination for you. Check out the Niagara Falls Tourism website to plan your perfect itinerary. And also, to get your hands on some amazing packages.
