There’s a new Diwali festival in Brampton & it will have a 15-min fireworks show

Brampton is going all out for its newest festival featuring free family-friendly activities, food vendors, and a 15-minute fireworks display.

In honour of the Festival of Lights, Diwali, the City of Brampton will be hosting its first-ever community celebration on November 12.

All are welcome to experience the beautiful tradition that symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness.

Though typically held over a span of five days, the city will bring live music and performances from local and international artists, free family-friendly activities, delicious food vendors, and a 15-minute fireworks show, for one day only.

For those celebrating Diwali at home, it’s important to note that Brampton now has a new fireworks by-law that states that fireworks are no longer permitted in Brampton, except for City-led events.

So your best bet to enjoy some pyrotechnics is to make your way down to Sesquicentennial Park for the large-scale event.

And to help get you there, Brampton Transit will be offering free shuttle service starting at 4 PM and every 30 minutes after that, to one of the four shuttle locations: Mount Pleasant GO Station, Sheridan College, Gore Meadows Community Centre and Save Max Sports Centre.

If you’re driving, there is limited parking available so it is on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be a temporary road closure on Countryside Drive from Bramalea Road to Sunny Meadow Boulevard from 2 PM to 11:55 PM.

Now mark your calendars and get ready for a memorable evening this November.

When: November 12, 2023 from 4 PM to 10 PM
Where: Sesquicentennial Park, 11333 Bramalea Road
