September is like Christmas for Apple users, as the giant tech company generally announces its latest products this month. And September 7 was the big day this year, with Apple announcing its new iPhone 14 range, along with new Watch and Airpods, at an event it called “Far Out.”
Following its introduction to the new MacBook Air, 13‑inch MacBook Pro, iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and watchOS 9 earlier this year at the WWDC, Apple finally dropped its latest line of iPhones and brand new Watch. Let’s get into what’s coming!
And we’re off. Tune in now for a special #AppleEvent

Apple Watch: Series 8 & SE
The new Apple Watch Series 8 has a couple of features that aren’t available on previous series, including taking temperature as well as car crash detection. According to Apple, the Series 8 watch will be able to sample a woman’s wrist temperature to indicate ovulation. As for the car crash detection, when the watch detects a crash, it will connect the user to emergency services and contacts along with the location of the crash.
The new watch will also include a low power mode. The Series 8 will be available on September 16.
The Apple Watch SE is known as the entry-level watch, and more affordable option. It will support fall detection, and crash detection, and will be available on September 16.
Apple Watch: Ultra
Apple introduced a brand new watch called Ultra. According to the company, “Apple Watch Ultra introduces a 49mm titanium case and flat sapphire front crystal that reveals the biggest and brightest Apple Watch display yet.” It has a customizable Action button that offers instant access to a wide range of useful features, and it has the best battery life of any Apple Watch, reaching up to 36 hours during normal use.
The new Apple Watch Ultra also brings three new bands — Trail Loop, Alpine Loop, and Ocean Band. The new Apple Watch Ultra will be available on September 23, and is priced at $1,099.
Apple announced the second-generation AirPods Pro, which will be available to order beginning on September 9. While they look similar to the first generation AirPods Pro, Apple said that this version will have up to two times the noise-cancelling abilities compared to the previous generation. They will be available on September 23, and are priced at $329.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus
The most anticipated announcement was for the iPhone 14 lineup, which includes the iPhone 14 Plus. The Apple iPhone 14 has a 6.1 inch display, with the Plus having a 6.7 inch display. According to Apple, expect the best battery life of any iPhone to-date on the 14 Plus.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus both have powerful camera systems featuring new Main and front TrueDepth cameras, the Ultra Wide camera for unique perspectives, and Photonic Engine — an enhanced image pipeline. As well, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus introduce critical safety capabilities such as Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite, a first in the industry, according to Apple.
In terms of colours, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available in midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED finishes.
As for the iPhone screen, the new iOS 16 lets you customize your Lock Screen: you can layer a photo to make it pop, track your Activity rings, and see live updates from your favourite apps.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
Apple also announced the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which they call “the most advanced Pro lineup ever.” These feature the new “Always-On” display, and a new class of pro camera system, with the first-ever 48MP Main camera on iPhone featuring a quad-pixel sensor, and Photonic Engine, an enhanced image pipeline that dramatically improves low-light photos.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available in four new colours: deep purple, silver, gold, and space black. Pre-orders begin Friday, September 9, with availability beginning Friday, September 16.
The iPhone 14 Pro will start at $1,399 with the Pro Max starting at $1,549.
