Although it’s not really possible but just ICYMI, we at Curiocity have been on a massive mission of exploring our city in support of the Never Have I Ever, TO (NHIETO) campaign that aims to promote local tourism and small businesses. Initiated by Destination Toronto in collaboration with the City of Toronto, the campaign is a citywide game where Torontonians discover new adventures, new places, and new experiences in the city and share it on social media using the #NeverHaveIEverTO hashtag.
As promised, we’ve been living many exciting Never Have I Ever, TO moments. Maybe not as exciting as Mayor John Tory’s CN Tower EdgeWalk but exciting nonetheless. We went on a culture trip, we explored the city’s culinary diversity, we ventured into trendy neighbourhoods outside downtown and now we are set to create the ultimate NHIETO moments of all time. Enter: A staycation.

Be it for the global travel restrictions, corona safety concerns, or a bank balance screaming ‘you better not,’ a staycation is unarguably the best option for the much-needed change of scenery at this time. Plus, it is a great way to fill up our Snaps and Instas with share-worthy #NeverHaveIEverTO moments.
Now whether you’re wanting to ball on a budget or go all out, we’ve got you covered on both ends of the spectrum. The best part is that these itineraries work just fine whether you are staycationing by yourself, with your significant other, or with the gang.
‘EASY ON THE POCKET’ ITINERARY
Places to stay:
- Toronto Don Valley Hotel – CAD 146
- Hampton Inn by Hilton Toronto – CAD 157
- Delta Hotel – CAD 180
- Madison Manor – CAD 180
(Note: The prices would vary depending on when you go and where you book from)
Things to do:
Plan a Spa Day- We love the outdoors, now more than ever but there’s definitely something about staycationing indoors at a hotel. So, wear those comfy robes, put on the face mask that you carried, pour out the brought-from-home champagne, sit by the window and relax. And if you’re up for spending a little extra, you’ll also find some great and affordable spa options near you. Off the top of our head, we’d say Body Blitz, Elmwood and Sweet Grass.
Walk The Beaches- This cute Toronto neighbourhood has a very relaxing vibe. You can either spend your day sunbathing or swimming at the Woodbine beach or walk the boardwalk taking in the water views.
Picnic at Music Garden- As cliche as it may sound, a picnic at this artistically landscaped garden by the waterfront is straight-up refreshing. And you get to enjoy the nice weather. Now that’s staycationing done right!
Enjoy the Eateries- There’s a whole bunch of great local eateries and cafes downtown and it would be a shame to not treat yourself to a nice brunch or a peameal bacon sandwich. Lady Marmalade, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, Le Petit Dejeuner are some of our faves. They are also easy on the pocket.

Catch a movie at Hot Docs- Hot Docs has gone online for obvious reasons. So, you can catch one of the many amazing documentaries streaming on Hot Docs while spending a night cozying up in a blanket with your significant other.
Go Arcading at the Rec Room- No Torontonian needs an intro to The Rec Room. And it is the place to be when you need a break from all the quiet and want to do something fun, be it bowling or simulation or throwing those axes.
‘CURB THE SPLURGE ITCH’ ITINERARY
Places to stay:
- Bisha Hotel – CAD 499
- 1 Hotel Toronto– CAD 599
- Hotel X – CAD 528
- The St. Regis Toronto – CAD 519
(Note: The prices would vary depending on when you go and where you book from)
Things to do:
Pamper yourself: The epitome of any luxurious holiday is a relaxing and rejuvenating day spent at the spa. The St. Regis Toronto has a great spa inside, but if you have a favourite in town, you can always head there.
Enjoy the rooftop pool: There’s nothing quite as staycation-y as lounging by a rooftop pool, sipping on a mimosa and taking in spectacular views of the Toronto skyline. Again, all the above hotels have rooftop pools.
Call in room service: Aah! Is it just us or does the idea of brunch in a robe sound equal parts luxe and cozy to everyone? We’re going to assume the latter and recommend trying room service, at least, once during your staycation.

Hit the bar: A chance to put on a fancy outfit that hasn’t seen the light of day for over a year, sipping on a well-deserved cocktail to melt away your stress and admiring great views of the city outside—now that’s what we call a perfect vacay.
Fly over the city: Trust us, you’re going to love this one. Get on a chopper for an aerial tour of your beloved city. Luxe-ing life at the highest possible level! You’ll even find Heli-Tours on My Toronto Pass.

Charter a yacht: To give your luxury staycation the beautiful and soothing finish it deserves, spend some time on the lake. Hop on a charter yacht and soak in the Toronto beauty from the other side. There are quite a few yacht rentals around town. The one we used was Gone Sailing Adventures.
Well, there we have it, team! Our guide to treating yourself with the ultimate staycation, all while finding your #NeverHaveIEverTO moment.
