You don’t get the honour of being called one of Ontario’s prettiest spots in the province for no reason! Neustadt, Ontario is nestled in Grey County around two and a half hours from Toronto. The village is small but for what it lacks in size it makes up for in beauty.
Not only that, the village is also home to Ontario’s oldest operating brewery!
The drive from Toronto to Neustadt is around two and a half hours.
The village is right in the heart of Grey County just south of Hanover and north of Guelph, and Kitchener.
Neustadt was once named one of the prettiest towns in Ontario, according to its town site.
The area is filled with hidden gems and most of them can be found lined along Mill Street. This street features small shops including Atelier 522.
This country-style boutique is inspired by “modern farmhouse living” and sells a selection of organic lotions, handmade candles, linens, ceramics, glass, and artistic curiosities.
Next stop, Granny’s General Store. This local gem is your go-to spot for groceries, baked goods, and sweet treats like ice cream bars! The store also features a garden centre.
Of course, a trip to Neustadt, Ontario isn’t complete without a stop at the province’s oldest operating brewery!
Neustadt Springs Brewery was established all the way back in 1859 and is the oldest operating original brewery building in Ontario!
Today, the brewery is open for visitors and features a taproom where guests can sit down and stay awhile! The beers here rotate but you can expect brews such as:
