Did you know that Netflix has its own website that maps out where some of the platform’s most popular movies & shows were filmed in Canada? And wouldn’t you know it – several newer Netflix shows and movies filmed in BC were just added to the mix (yes, you can stream them now.)

Last year, Netflix in Your Neighbourhood was launched on World Tourism Day. Viewers around the world can now explore some of the Canadian filming locations, and even get a bit of info on each if they ever plan to visit.

The site now has several new films and series on the map, including ones filmed in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Toronto, Surrey, Burnaby, Langley, Mahone Bay, Oakville, and much more. Of course, we couldn’t help but notice the number of shows that have filming locations set up around Vancouver – which you can view on the official map here.

Now, let’s get into a bit more info about each BC-filmed title:

According to Netflix, Slumberland takes you “to a magical new place, a dreamworld where precocious Nemo (Marlow Barkley) and her eccentric companion Flip (Jason Momoa) embark on the adventure of a lifetime.”

And the adventure took the cast to film around BC and Ontario. Momoa and the crew filmed in Victoria where the “sparkling waters and rugged coastline” can also be spotted throughout Slumberland. They also shot scenes in Whistler, which they called “a perfect backdrop for a Canadian’s dream in Slumberland.”

After premiering in 2020, Firefly Lane returned for a second season at the end of 2022. The show follows the friendship of tight-knit Tully and Kate, in the sleepy town of Snohomish, Washington. But we know that’s not the case here, as the show was mostly filmed around Vancouver!

“From the Seawall Water Walk to a local Gastown bar, the show takes audiences across the city, highlighting its upbeat urban spirit, trendy neighbourhoods, and stunning Pacific vistas,” states Netflix.

Not only did filming take place in Vancouver, the show also filmed scenes in Langley.

Keep Breathing

In this survival thriller limited series, Melissa Barrera stars as the lone survivor of a small plane crash in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. The show follows her journey as she battles the elements and her personal demons to stay alive.

In terms of filming locations, the show was shot around BC, including in Mission, Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, Vancouver Island and Vancouver. In Mission, they filmed on the Hunter Road Trail! You can view it on the map here.

This limited series starring Madeleine Arthur, Sam Jaeger, and Emily Deschanel (yes, Zooey has a sister!) was shot in Surrey, Langley, and Delta. Some filming location highlights include Deas Island Regional Park and The Telegraph Trail, which you can view here.

As for other Canada-filmed projects, viewers can search by title or province to discover the real-life locations of each filming spot, including local businesses, tourist destinations, and more.

“Look at your local streets, parks, mountains, libraries and eateries in a new light and see how your neighbourhood has fueled the creative imagination of millions of people around the globe,” says the website.

And that’s a wrap on Netflix shows in BC for now. We’ll check back in soon!
