You don’t have to be a Kitsilano regular to know that the neighbourhood has plenty to offer. From cool ocean dips to chill summer sips to that of a mountain of stores to splurge at. But if the many gems in the area have you confused, worry not. With the help of the West 4th Ave BIA, we’ve put together the ‘perfect summer day in Kitsilano’ guide. In fact, we curated two— one for when you need a little relaxation and some pampering and the other for when you’re feeling all active and sporty.

Before we launch into our carefully curated itineraries, we do want to remind you that the most perfect day of the season in Kitsilano is on July 9th, for the Khatsahlano Street Party! This year’s festivities will feature live music, vendors, activations, food, drinks & much, much more. And, if you need help deciding how you want to spend any day out and about in Kits, check out our list!

You obviously want to start your day on a tasty note. And so, grab a seat at Jam’s Café. Their all-day breakfast and lunch menu boasts outrageously delicious delights. Our fave— Cold Smoked Salmon and Avocado Benny and Pulled Pork Pancakes.

Pamper yourself

When is a day of pampering ever complete without some actual pampering, eh? Get your bestie along and head over to Joyride (or Sassy Nails if you wish) to get a little mani-pedi action And then, why not enjoy a rejuvenating facial at Formula Fig to get your skin summer-ready.

Splurge a little

The place is brimming with pretty patios and wonderful eateries. And they are yours to enjoy. We suggest relishing a smoothie at the Kokomo patio and then grabbing a snack (Dark Chocolate Banana Bread) from Tractor.

Take in the beach vibes

After this nice, long day of pampering, shopping and eating, set yourself up at the Kits beach, take a dip in the ocean and revel in the calm views. Take a can or 4 of Philip’s seasonal beers for that extra zing.

For an Active Day in Kitsilano

Shop sporty

C’mon, you’re in one of Van’s best shopping districts. O course, you need to stock up on comfy clothing for all your current and upcoming adventures. Hit Arc’teryx, Patagonia and Comor Sports for all your sporting supplies— from wear to gear.

If you’re in one of your active moods, chances are you’re feeling healthy too. And lucky for you, you can grab some of the most incredible poke bowls at Pacific Poke or Hoke Poke. Oh, and Pacific Poke now has freshly made sushi rolls for all your fave bowls- so walk, don’t run!

Hike or Bike the Pacific Spirit Park

After a nice, handsome poke bowl, head to the gorgeous Pacific Spirit Park. Walk one of its many trails that take you through the rich forested area and on to the Wreck Beach for a cool down. And also to take in the city skyline views.

Now that you’ve accumulated your steps for the day, head for a well-earned meal of Short Rib Pappardelle (or whatever is your fave) at Trattoria. And down a lip-smacking cocktail or two, preferably on the patio as you take in the hustle-bustle of the street. Not to mention, Trattoria will be hosting their famous Meatball Eating Contest at this year’s Khats Street Party. So if you’re looking to win free spaghetti & meatballs for the year, you know where to go!

Speaking of, that brings us to the last on our list. Obviously, we’re talking about the Khatsahlano Street Party on July 9th, which is returning to Kitsilano after a two-year long hiatus. What makes this even better, is that it’s the 10 year anniversary, so you can expect this year’s to be bigger and better than ever.

There you have it guys, two wonderful itineraries for a perfect warm weather day. Here’s to a happy and happening summer!
