Here’s what’s open and closed in Edmonton on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is approaching this Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025.

Truth and Reconciliation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a day when people across Canada come together to recognize the ongoing effects of residential schools. It’s a day when people take the time to listen to Indigenous voices around the country, offering their ears and support where it can be provided toward reconciliation.

Since this is a federal holiday, we’ve compiled a list of all places open and closed on this day for your convenience. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Closed

As for ways to recognize the holiday, the Alberta Government will be honouring the day on the 30th from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Kihciy Maskikiy/Aakaakmotaani reconciliation garden on the east side of the Alberta Legislature grounds.
