In some pretty upsetting news, Nando’s Canada revealed today that they will be closing 21 of its Canadian locations on a permanent basis. The closures will begin happening over the next few weeks. Yowza, that’s not a tasty piece of news.

Obviously, the COVID-19 pandemic is a big reason for the closures. That being said, Nando’s also revealed that these locations were already having problems remaining financially viable before the pandemic started.

No word yet on exactly what locations will be closed, but it has been stated that 27 locations in Canada are staying open. That includes 14 across BC, Alberta, and Ontario. So, if you need to hit a Nando’s for that Peri-Peri craving (we know we do), then now is as good a time as any.

In a move that we hope comes true, Nando’s has also said that they plan to move employees from closing locations over to ones that are still open. Fingers crossed that happens because Canada certainly doesn’t need another round of job losses.

We’ll keep an eye out for more information but in the meantime, stay healthy, Canada!
