It is a beloved trail, known locally for over 100 years as it has a gorgeous scenic lookout.
“Rocks on this trail are some of the oldest in the world, well over a billion years old,” shares the Township of Muskoka Lakes. “The effects of glaciation, timber harvesting, erosion and fire have removed the thin mantle of soil, exposing the surface of the pink granite rock.”
It’s a 2.5 km long loop with several benches along the way if you need to take a break.
Another lookout point to explore is the Walker’s Point Lookout Trail, known locally as Berry Mountain. According to the township’s site, it was a long-time hidden gem of Muskoka Lakes.
This 1 km long trail is known locally for its beautiful view of Lake Muskoka.
Overall, the township is home to 80 lakes, three of which are big and “define the Muskoka experience,” according to the township’s site. These lakes are Muskoka, Rosseau, and Joseph.
And that’s not to mention all the fun experiences available in the winter. The area has hundreds of kilometres of snowmobile trails, snowshoe trails, cross country ski trails, and outdoor skating.
