Canadian province ranked one of the most welcoming places on Earth

Canada is known for its friendly citizens, but one province, in particular, was just named one of the most welcoming places on Earth for 2023.

A new ranking by Booking.com is giving special shoutouts to regions around the world that stand out from the rest for their hospitality.

Out of 220 countries and territories, these places have received rave reviews for their “commitment to providing consistently excellent service and hospitality over the course of the year.”

The ranking is based on over 240 million verified customer reviews, as well as accommodations, rental car services, and airport taxi providers.

This year’s list of the most welcoming places on Earth spans across five continents.

According to Booking.com, these regions “provide even the most seasoned traveler with bucket list inspiration for their future trips.”

Not only are these regions recognized for their beauty, but their local accommodations have also received a Traveller Review Award this year.

The one and only Canadian region included in the ranking is Newfoundland & Labrador.

Newfoundland was known for its welcoming hospitality long before this ranking came out.

The small town of Gander, Newfoundland became famous worldwide in September 2001 when several US-bound planes were forced to land there, and residents took in stranded passengers with open arms.

It seems that the province continues to live up to its reputation to this day.

Below are the 10 most welcoming places on Earth this year, according to Booking.com:

  1. La Rioja, Spain
  2. Epirus, Greece
  3. Oberosterreich, Austria
  4. County Down, UK
  5. Mures, Romania
  6. Marlborough, New Zealand
  7. Ninh Binh, Vietnam
  8. Limon, Costa Rica
  9. Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada
  10. North Dakota, US

Don’t know about you, but we’re feeling inspired to take a trip out east!
