The sunny season is here and there’s no place better to take a walk, a run, or enjoy a staycation, than Wild Rose Country.
From the Rockies to the Badlands, the prairie province has some of the most scenic destinations in the country and, according to Condé Nast Traveler, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
Located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Moraine Lake is best for its mountain backdrop and towering trees.
Here, the air is crisp and the sunrises are some of the country’s best, but the colour below is what really stuns visitors.
The only drawback? The area is closed to public vehicles due to its popularity, meaning the only way you can get there is by foot, a Parks Canada shuttle, Roam Transit, by having a valid parking placard or being a guest of Moraine Lake Lodge.
Our advice? Just plan ahead!
Of course, Alberta’s pride and joy is not the only spot to make the list.
Others to earn a coveted spot include Plitviče Lakes in Croatia, Lake Como in Italy, the Rakotzsee in Germany, Lake Retba in Senegal and Lake Superior – which is shared between the US and Canada.
