You can see costumes from Black Panther, Selma, and Malcolm X at this new MoPOP exhibit

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) has yet another exciting exhibition on the way in this summer. Soon you’ll be able to visit the Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design exhibition. It’s opening in Seattle on June 18th and is one of the best shows to see your favorite costumes in person.

At the exhibition, you’ll be able to see more than 60 costumes designed by Academy Award-winning designer Ruth E. Carter. You’ll not only get to see the costumes but also her vision and the in-depth process she uses for each project. Some of the featured costumes come from films like Black Panther, Roots, Do the Right Thing, Selma, Malcolm X, and more.

Beyond Carter’s designs visitors will also be able to see original artwork by artist Brandon Sadler. If you’re unfamiliar, Sadler’s murals were prominently featured in Black Panther. That’s not all though, visitors will also be able to enjoy an immersive “Warrior Falls” photo op, that recreates the iconic setting from Black Panther.

Until the new exhibition opens you can check out other exhibits like Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop. You can also plan ahead and purchase your tickets now as they’re on sale! More details can be found on the MoPOP website. Enjoy!
