Even if you think you have everything, there’s one item we can guarantee that you don’t have, yet. That item is Kurt Cobain’s guitar from Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. It’s going to auction next month and you could be its next owner.

The guitar is a “1969, Fender Mustang, left-handed guitar in Competition Lake Placid Blue finish with matching headstock.” It’s the guitar that Cobain is seen playing during the pep rally-style music video that accompanies the band’s iconic tune, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. And while the video may look pretty low budget, that guitar is now worth $600,000-$800,000 according to Julien’s Auctions.

To make things even more special, Cobain mentioned that the guitar was one of his favorites in his final interview with Guitar World. Not only that but this guitar has actually been on display at Seattle’s Experience Music Project (now MoPOP) for the past 12 years. So if you’ve visited during that time, chances are that you’ve seen it.

If you’d like to try your luck at owning this iconic and very pricey guitar, the auction will run from Friday, May 20th-May 22nd. You can either bid live at the Hard Rock Cafe New York or online. Best of luck!
